ChatGPT Ads Europe Opens 31 New Markets to B2B Advertisers

The short version

THE SHORT VERSION: ChatGPT Ads Europe went live across 31 markets on August 24, 2026, and OpenAI added conversion-optimized cost-per-click bidding a week earlier. Ads now reach roughly 26 percent of ChatGPT chats, compared with citations that reach only 6.8 percent, and that math matters for anyone still betting on citation-only visibility inside the model.

What happened

OpenAI announced on August 18 that ChatGPT Ads would open to 31 European markets, with agency and technology partners getting access from August 24. That follows an August 11 rollout to the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and South Korea. On August 7, OpenAI enabled beta conversion-optimized CPC bidding, dynamic URL parameters for attribution, and new measurement integrations. Automatic Advanced Matching becomes the default for new web pixels and turns on for existing ones from August 17, letting OpenAI match hashed customer data from forms to conversions. The company is also testing a multi-product carousel ad format at the bottom of chats. According to Similarweb, ads now surface in about 26 percent of ChatGPT conversations while citations show up in 6.8 percent.

Every founder who has poured a year into AI Overviews visibility or citation coverage has been optimizing for the smaller of two surfaces inside ChatGPT. Paid units already reach four times more chats than citations. With European buyers now inside the ad targeting pool and conversion bidding actually functional, this is the moment paid ChatGPT starts behaving like a real B2B demand channel rather than a novelty. It also gives founders a hedge against citation volatility, where a model update can move visibility 56 percent overnight but a paid campaign does not.

  1. Test one comparison campaign
Run a paid ChatGPT campaign targeting a bottom-of-funnel comparison query in your category, such as your product name versus a well-known competitor. Cap spend at 500 dollars for two weeks. That is a fair read on whether the click and pipeline economics beat what you already run on LinkedIn today.
  2. Install the pixel before you need it
Automatic Advanced Matching flipped on for existing pixels on August 17. Install the OAIQ pixel and pass hashed email through your primary forms this week. Even if you do not spend for another quarter, you will have the conversion history when you do, which is exactly what conversion bidding needs to learn quickly enough to work.
  3. Rework product pages for carousel eligibility
OpenAI is testing multi-product carousel ads placed at the bottom of chats. That format rewards clean product feeds with sharp images and clear price points, similar to Google Shopping. If your product page has neither, you cannot appear in the format that will earn the highest paid share of voice in the model.

What to do this week

Pick a single comparison query your buyers actually ask, such as your category plus the name of the closest competitor. Ask ChatGPT the question in an incognito session and screenshot the current answer, ads, and citations. Install the OAIQ pixel on your pricing and demo-request pages. Then open ChatGPT Ads Manager and draft a single campaign with conversion bidding, a 500 dollar cap, and creative that matches how your buyer actually phrased the question. Do not launch yet, but have it ready for next week's decision. Track cost per meeting, not cost per click, for the whole two weeks and compare it directly against your existing LinkedIn benchmark. If ChatGPT meetings come in cheaper, quietly reallocate 15 percent of next month's LinkedIn budget before your competitors are running the same test at scale.
